The club member art hangout on Sunday was a BLAST... from the past. hehe I dug out a bunch of older works that, for one reason or another, never made it to completion. Some of them have engineering issues, quirks I couldn't work out or I just got mad at them and in the bin they went! haha

I know not everyone can make the live hangouts so here are some pictures of most of the goodies from the bin!

I asked those attending what they would like to see maybe resurrected and the resounding answer was MOAR BUSTS! Totally not what I expected but I can appreciate the awesome of busts and the emotion and expression that they contain.. so, what say you? Do you agree? Also...Baratheon was a fan favotire from the stream. Let me know which you would love to see resurrected!

This is one of my oldest pieces from back in the Murdock days. Jazz and Liqour (on the right) was intended to be a dressage arabian. Stoic (on the left) is customized to a Kirin/Japanese inspired armoured unicorn (horn is missing) with a sakura tree base.

This is an old Traditional scale resting mare face that was made for use in customizing. This is a pretty rough cast as there never was a production mold and only one of these ever made it out of the studio.

When I first made Pym, I knew she needed a protector. So Hank was born (think Antman for the names lol). Hank ended up getting shelved because of challenges with the resting hing leg and the stay apparatus... and then I lost interest. Wouldn't they have made a lovely pair?

FUN FACT! Most of my sculptures up until a few years ago, were all geekily named. Can you figure them all out? There is a tip in the image description above for one of them.

These two conky ladies never quite worked proportionally but they are fun to look back on! We definitely need more chonky lady ponies around the hobby I think!

A Trekkener gelding that never did reach the flow I was hoping for.

This unicorn has been kicking around in my head for ages. The brown aves means he is pretty darn old... 2012-2014 ish. I have this thing in my head that makes me want to sculpt a unciorn on a cliff with hair flying.... it just won't leave my brain. Hippo, the draft horse unicorn I started at the Sculpting the Soulful Steed workshop a few years ago was another iteration of that idea. A lot of the ponies do that... and come back over and over in various ways over the years.

Firefly was a barrel racer! I LOVED the idea and worked really hard to make her a reality. Unfortunately, the enginering broke me at the time (and her). She is SOLID epoxy and without a waste cast there was no getting her balance right.

This was a test of my pony armature kit I was working on. The armature/sculpting kit may still make it into the world yet but this cute pony didn't really make it much further than this.

These were some favorites of the club member art hangout! I was playing with expression and gesture and went on a bust kick for quite a while. I love capturing the expressions and emotions in the clay like this. The sleepy mare of the left and the bold draft done up for show on the right.

Sculpted in 2015 in Morgen's face sculpting workshop at Breyerfest, This dude was an iteration of the idea that eventually became the Xavier medallion. I LOVE the look of a WB stallion stretched out in presentation with arched neck and gorgeous head.

This one got super close and it's in epoxy too!

A bowing horse from a reference photo I fell in love with. The head was reaching around over the right leg and made some incredible wrinkles and gooeyness in the neck. Rise would be another iteration of this and may get be born into full 3D.

A fun classic kirin that fell victim to the dreaded engineering issues. Between the one leg support and the angle of the piece...and that curly tail... I just couldn't figure out how I would ever make it stand, mold, cast and then be shippable.

And Baratheon! This was a stompy, spicy, romatic war horse that still to this day wants out of my head. romantic. He is quite old but still holds a soul that I know will have to be let out.

So, who is your favorite? Do you want to see more busts? If so, do you want them to be traditional ish scale for customizing or large like 1/6 or larger for display? They can show with medallions so that makes it even more fun!

Let me know your thoughts!
